5 Big Changes Coming To Festiva in 2018
George Munoz Joins The Management Team, The Announcement of a New Chef, Family Friendly, Greater Focus on a Truer Contemporary Mexican Experience
Fans of Festiva, Indianapolis’ premiere Mexican restaurant will continue to be wowed in 2018. But, starting early next year, there will be a lot of big changes coming to create an even better experience.
Spurring these changes is the arrival of restaurant veteran George Munoz, of Adobo Grill and most recently cult favorite La Chinita Poblana, as the operating partner.
“What Festiva really needed was someone who was fluent in the culture to an even greater degree than Tom (Main) and I, so we could continue to grow the following and experience we have now”, said Peter George founding co-partner of Festiva and the much celebrated “Tinker Street”.
George Munoz plans to bring an emphasis on providing a total experience to Festiva customers that is inclusive and more reflective of true contemporary Mexican cuisine. Some of the key changes coming include:
- The addition of Arnie Medina, as Executive Chef. Medina brings an extensive experience within contemporary Mexican restaurants including his stint as Sous Chef at Adobo Grill and the former Sous and Pastry chef at Scoozi, a Let Us Entertain You venture in Chicago. “Arnie and I have worked together for years and he will be responsible for working with me to execute the vision of flavorful Mexican cooking”
- Becoming family friendly, by meeting excise requirements, will be a key part of broadening the audience and attracting families with a taste for Mexican Cuisine. As part of this initiative, George and Arnie will add a kids menu that provides actual Mexican food that children can enjoy – as opposed to the traditional chicken tenders and fries approach.
- Logistically the restaurant will move to Open Table, the restaurant industry’s premier reservation system, to provide a limited reservation capability to those people who are most comfortable with an advance reservation.
- Festiva will continue to be Indianapolis’ destination for authentic Mexican cuisine, keeping the most popular items and adding new ones that will reflect contemporary Mexican cuisine.
“I’m very excited to share Arnie and my experience with the flavors and cooking that we grew up with – as well as take this experience to the next level by being welcoming of families and providing the best possible service to create an great experience”, said George Munoz, Operating Partner.
